Prime Minister Vladimir Putin visits the Russian Railways Scientific and Technical Development Centre at the Rizhsky Railway Station

The Prime Minister was shown the latest technical railway developments, in particular, a modern double-current electric passenger locomotive, which can function at temperatures ranging from minus 50 degrees to 40 degrees Celsius, and reach speeds up to 200 km/hour, as well as the state-of-the-art Lastochka (Swallow) electric train, which is capable of carrying up to 800 passengers at speeds up to 160 km/hour. These trains will transport passengers during the Sochi Olympics.

The prime minister visited the mobile museum of Russian Railways. The exhibition is arranged inside a train which travels around the country, according to a certain schedule. The cars of the museum feature models of modern locomotives, electric trains, various stations, and simulators for handling trains and controlling the movement of trains.

Vladimir Putin was particularly interested in one of the novelties – a simulator for handling a locomobile on KamAZ platform. These vehicles can travel both on roads and on rails, which is especially convenient at small unloading points. The prime minister inspected the training cabin and tried to handle a large-tonnage vehicle himself.

On his way to the entrance, Prime Minister Putin noticed an electronic shooting range located in the coach. Using an AK-74 rifle simulator, visitors can shoot at targets that move on the screen – wild boars running around the forest. Vladimir Putin took up the gun and hit the target with a single shot.
