Emergency Situations Minister Sergei Shoigu reported to the prime minister on the rescue operation underway at the explosion site. The collapsed part of the building is being examined, Shoigu said. The minister noted that the destroyed floors "crashed down to the basement." The building's condition is to be assessed by experts.

After the inspection, the prime minister left for a meeting to be held at a tent camp set up nearby.
