Prime Minister Vladimir Putin meets with Novosibirsk Region Governor Vasily Yurchenko
Vladimir Putin praised the industrial performance of the region, whose output is growing at a rate above the nation’s average. But he reminded the governor about Novosibirsk’s outstanding wage debt. They also discussed healthcare and school reform as well as current problems in pre-school education.

Born on September 26, 1960, the town of Karasuk, Novosibirsk Region.

Education

1982: Graduated from the Novosibirsk Institute of Water Transport Engineers, now the Novosibirsk State Academy of Water Transportation, and received a degree in Electrical Engineering.

2000: Completed a professional retraining course at the Government's Economic Academy.

Work experience

1981: Worked as senior technician with channel prospecting party No. 12 of the Ob basin administration's Novosibirsk technical district.

1982: Worked as line electrician at the Salekhard river port.

1982-2004: Worked at the Novosibirsk-based Sibselmash Production Association, was promoted from electrical equipment foreman to the enterprise's Director General.

January 2004: Appointed Deputy Head of the Regional Administration and Head of the Administration's Production and Entrepreneurship Development Department.

February 2005: Appointed First Deputy Governor of the Novosibirsk Region.

September 22, 2010: Appointed Governor of the Novosibirsk Region for a five-year period at a special meeting of the Novosibirsk Regional Council of Deputies.

Married, with two children.
