Transcript of the beginning of the meeting:
Hu Jintao (via interpreter): Mr Prime Minister, I was very pleased to meet with you once again after three months. Welcome to China for your official visit and your involvement in the sixteenth regular meeting of the Chinese and Russian heads of government.
You are a true friend of the Chinese nation. Despite your extremely packed schedule of intra-state activity, you have found the opportunity to come here. I think that this highlights the fact that you devote great attention to the development of our bilateral relations.
Yesterday, you and Wen Jiabao, the premier of the State Council, held very good negotiations in a rather benevolent and businesslike atmosphere. An entire range of new cooperation documents were then signed between our states after the talks.
I'm confident that your current visit, as well as your involvement in the meeting between the Chinese and Russian heads of government, will provide an extremely powerful impetus to the subsequent development and strengthening of Chinese-Russian relations in terms of our all-round strategic cooperation and partnership.
Furthermore, I would like to exchange detailed opinions with you on bilateral issues and other issues of mutual interest. I would like to give you the floor. Please.
Vladimir Putin: Thank you very much, Mr President. Dear friend, I would like to greet you and to say that I'm very pleased to see you again. Russian-Chinese relations are developing very successfully, and your June 2011 visit to Russia has consolidated these positive trends. I would like to convey the most warmhearted wishes and regards from President Dmitry Medvedev to you.
Indeed, we held the sixteenth meeting of the Chinese and Russian heads of government yesterday, and the meeting was successful. Agreements worth over $7 million between the representatives of various national companies were signed the day before. Yesterday, we discussed development, primarily expanded our bilateral relations in the economic sphere, summed up some results of our work, and charted specific development prospects.
I avail myself of this opportunity to tell you about the results of our meetings today and to discuss the entire range of our relations. We are counting very much on your support for specific future plans charted by the governments of China and Russia.
