Prime Minister Vladimir Putin meets with Alexander Khloponin, Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the North Caucasus Federal District
The two officials discussed the results of socio-economic development efforts in the North Caucasus Federal District during the first half of 2011. According to Khloponin, the results indicate that the local economy is growing quickly, and, thanks to effective federal programmes, the unemployment rate fell by 23% from last year. The discussion focused particularly on ongoing investment projects.
