Prime Minister Vladimir Putin meets with Nino Burdzhanadze, leader of the Democratic Movement – United Georgia party
During the meeting, Russia’s prime minister said he hoped that the unveiling ceremony for the WWII monument at the Poklonnaya Gora Memorial Park will prove a symbolic step along the journey to finding a mutually acceptable solution in the stabilisation of Russian-Georgian relations.

1986: Graduated from the Law Department at Tbilisi State University.

1990: Finished postgraduate studies at the Department of International Law,

Lomonosov Moscow State University.

1991–1992: Assistant professor at the Department of International Law, Tbilisi State University.

1992–1994: Expert consultant at the Georgian Ministry of Environmental Protection.

1993–1995: Expert consultant at the international relations committee in Georgia's Parliament.

1995–1999: Member of Parliament.

1995–1999: Head of the Parliament committee for constitutional and legal issues and justice

1999–2001: Head of the international relations committee.

2001–2003: the Speaker of Parliament.

1998–2003: Political secretary of the Union of Citizens of Georgia party.

2003: Head of the Burdzhanadze–Democrats bloc.

November 2003: Re-elected member of Parliament.

April 22, 2004– June 6, 2008: the Speaker of Parliament.
