During a working visit to the Tambov Region, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin toured the construction site of the Solnechny housing complex in the village of Pushkari. The project, which is being carried out under the Affordable Housing Programme, involves the construction of 423 houses on an area of about one hundred hectares.

In addition to housing, the complex will include a school, two kindergartens, public utilities, a café, and a shopping mall.

The prime minister was informed that 54 houses have been completed and construction is underway on another 170. The housing is priced at 20,000-25,000 roubles per square meter.

Some houses are frame and panel, while others are brick, concrete, and wood. Prime Minister Putin inspected one house built using timber produced at a local plant that had been modernised.

Mr Putin then headed to a district of Tambov where dilapidated housing is being renovated.

"The Housing and Utilities Fund will sign a new agreement today with the region and the city to continue major repairs of old housing and relocating tenants living in housing that is in urgent need of repair," Mr Putin said during a meeting with local residents.
