Transcript of the beginning of the meeting:
Vladimir Putin: Welcome to Moscow. We are very glad to be in constant contact with our partners from Qatar.
Trade between our two countries is small for the time being. Nevertheless, we are still important partners: I'm referring to our energy cooperation, where we are two of the largest producers of natural gas in the world.
We have good opportunities for investment, and have recently established good cultural ties.
And so, to begin our conversation, I'd like to convey my warmest wishes to the Emir of Qatar and the other leaders of your country.
Welcome to Moscow!
Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah: (as translated): First of all, allow me to thank you, distinguished Prime Minister, for this opportunity for me and my delegation to meet with you.
I'd also like to convey to you the heartfelt greetings from his Highness the Emir, as well as from the prime minister of Qatar. They attach the greatest importance to building special relations between the state of Qatar and the Russian Federation.
We have very clear instructions: build these relations in all possible areas.
I agree with you that trade between our two countries is in need of serious improvement.
Our High Commission for cooperation, as we call it, met today. The Qatari delegation was headed by Energy Minister Dr. Mohamed Saleh Al-Sada.
Our delegation also includes eminent energy specialists.
