Vladimir Putin visited the newly constructed air traffic control centre, where he learned more about the layout of the airport, the Urals' largest air transport hub, linking Europe and Asia.
A new runway has been completed at the airport to serve large aircraft, such as the Airbus A380. The estimated cost of the project exceeds 5 billion roubles. The airport's general director reassured the prime minister that the runway will be up and running in July in response to his question.
