After the wreath-laying ceremony at the tomb of Simon Bolivar in the National Pantheon of Venezuela, Jacqueline Faria, the head of the government of the Caracas Capital District, presented the Russian Prime Minister with a proclamation declaring him an honoured guest of the Venezuelan capital. The mayor of Caracas also gave the Russian Prime Minister the key to the city.
Vladimir Putin then attended a performance of the polonaise from the opera Eugene Onegin by the Venezuelan Symphony Orchestra at the National Pantheon. The Russian Prime Minister thanked orchestra director Angelo Pagliuca after the performance. In return, the conductor presented Mr. Putin with his baton.
Vladimir Putin was welcomed at the entrance of the National Pantheon by students aged 3 to 16 from a boarding school for girls, who greeted him with a chorus of "Welcome to Venezuela, Russian Prime Minister."
