Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has amended Government Resolution No 404, dated May 29, 2008, "On the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation" to increase the number of deputy ministers from four to five.

According to Executive order No 249-r, dated March 1, 2010, Vladimir Melnikov has been appointed the fifth Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment.
