Prime Minister Vladimir Putin sends a message of congratulations to figure skater Yevgeny Plyushchenko who won silver in the men’s singles event at the XXI Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver
The message reads, in part:
"Please accept my sincerest congratulations on your wonderful performance at the XXI Olympic Winter Games. Your silver is worth its weight in gold.
"You overcame all the hardships and obstacles to accomplish a bold and decisive feat: staging a brilliant comeback in professional sport and performing a highly sophisticated programme in Vancouver.
"Figure skating enthusiasts and all Russian fans sincerely admire your finely-honed professionalism, impeccable artistic taste and respect your genuine fighting spirit, courage and your will to win.
"I wish you every success, happiness and all the best. Well done!"
