Prime Minister Vladimir Putin sends a message of condolence on the death of opera singer Irina Arkhipova, People’s Artist of the USSR

The message to the singer's husband reads, in part:

"We mourn the death of Irina Arkhipova, an outstanding opera singer and a wonderful person with diverse talents. A singer of unique personality, she made an invaluable contribution to preserving and developing the traditions of Russian performing arts. Her long professional career and her life were wholly devoted to opera and the theatre where she brilliantly realised her rich talent. She also did much to teach and train talented young singers."
