The prime minister's message reads, in part:
"Our diplomatic corps have an honourable tradition of serving their country, which they have continued through the present day by tenaciously and consistently defending the interests of Russia in the international arena, resolving important national security issues and fostering favourable conditions abroad for the country's social and economic development. Russian diplomats' commitment, professionalism and creativity have allowed them to implement foreign policies intended to strengthen Russia's standing and influence in the world.
"Your efforts have helped establish a truly collective basis for international relations, as well as foster just principles for the integrity of security and respect for other countries' lawful interests. You have also helped strengthen Russia's cooperation with its foreign partners and provided political and diplomatic support for major economic projects abroad. There is a growing understanding of the need to protect the rights and interests of Russian citizens and companies abroad, as well as to promote Russian goods and services in global markets.
"I am sure that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Russia's diplomatic and consular missions will continue to contribute successfully to strengthening Russia's economy and cope with all the difficult foreign policy challenges facing Russia in the 21st century."
