The message addressed to the widow and daughter of Mr Shvarts reads:

"The demise of Isaak Shvarts is a great loss for Russian music. Many wonderful theatrical productions and films loved by the entire nation owe their success to his magnificent, touching and lyrical masterpieces.

"The memory of this brilliant person will forever remain in the hearts of his family, friends, colleagues and all admirers of his talent."
