Prime Minister Vladimir Putin sent a message to Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Karim Masimov congratulating him on the country’s national holiday, Independence Day

The message reads, in part:

"During the past several years, the people of Kazakhstan have greatly developed the country and the national economy. Internationally, the country's image has been improving; this is clear from Kazakhstan's future presidency in the OSCE.

"I am glad also to note the positive development of Russian-Kazakh relations. The consistent implementation of the Russian-Kazakh Action Plan for 2009-2010 will continue to develop our cooperation in energy, transport, science and technology at interregional levels, in effective using the Baikonur cosmodrome, and in joint exploration of Caspian Sea's resources.

"I am confident that the Russian-Kazakh strategic partnership will continue to develop in the interests of our people as well as for the peace and stability of Eurasia."
