Prime Minister Vladimir Putin sent a message of condolence to the family and friends of Vyacheslav Tikhonov, stage and screen actor, People’s Artist of the USSR, on his passing

The message read, in part:

"This is a great loss for all of us. A brilliant actor, he was a man of dignity and honor. We couldn't imagine the popular movies, which earned an ageless nationwide admiration as well as international renown, without him.

I offer you my deepest condolences and sympathies".
