Prime Minister Vladimir Putin met with Georgy Boos, Governor of the Kaliningrad Region, to discuss the implementation of orders and tasks following Mr Putin's recent visit to Kaliningrad. In particular, Mr Putin was concerned about the repayment of wage arrears to personnel of the Kaliningrad-based bankrupt air carrier KD Avia.
The repayment of wage arrears to KD Avia staff started on November 18, 2009 following Mr Putin's decision to provide the company employees with financial assistance equalling the wages arrears to be paid from the federal budget as additional subsidies to the Kaliningrad Region.
Currently, a total of 2,050 applications for the financial assistance have been registered, with over 237 million roubles paid to 1,749 employees. Another 273 people are due to receive payments of 57 million roubles by November 30.
The reports on KD Avia problems, including wage arrears, had been previously submitted by the company employees both as letters to Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and through www.government.ru website.
