Prime Minister Vladimir Putin sent a message of greetings to the guests and participants of the 13th International Congress of the National Association of Television and Radio Broadcasters

The message reads, in part:

"You will discuss a wide range of issues related to the development of this industry, the implementation of far-reaching plans for the transition of the Russian television and radio broadcasting system to the digital format. It is obvious that today information and communication technologies determine economic growth prospects, promoting the sustained development of any country.

"The previous year was distinctive for its vibrant and momentous events. New TV programmes went on air, which are broadcast not only via television networks but also via satellite and mobile networks as well as the Internet. The Government has approved the plan of the federal targeted programme to develop TV and radio broadcasting in the Russian Federation up to 2015, drawing up a list of mandatory public access channels.

"I expect that this congress will be effective and meaningful, resulting in a real breakthrough. I hope its decisions and recommendations will make a significant contribution to the consolidation of the professional community, strengthening a constructive dialogue of all entities on the media market."
