Prime Minister Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko

The two heads of government discussed certain aspects of trade and economic relations between their two countries, and joint efforts to control the A/H1N1 influenza epidemic. At the request of the Ukrainian Cabinet, the Russian Government has agreed to provide Ukraine with 200,000 packs of Arbidole, a Russian-manufactured antiviral medicine.

The Prime Ministers have agreed to conduct joint Russian-Ukrainian research on the flu strain diagnosed in Ukraine. Mr Putin said that Russia was willing to supply relevant equipment and conduct any necessary research.

He also said that Russia would begin exporting vaccines to Ukraine in February 2010, when the output was expected to increase sufficiently.
