Vladimir Putin sent a message of greetings to guests and participants of the third annual Russian film festival Sputnik over Warsaw on its opening day

The message reads, in part:

"This festival has distinguished itself through remarkable traditions and a friendly festive atmosphere. Prominent masters and numerous fans of Russian cinema in Poland look forward to this event. This festival's significant contribution to the development of interaction between our nations in culture is something to be admired.

"I have confidence that the rich programme, vibrant acting and outstanding directing will bring pleasure and joy to Sputnik's guests and participants."
