Vladimir Putin sent a congratulatory telegram to the staff of the Russian state radio broadcasting company Voice of Russia on the occasion of its 80th anniversary

The telegram reads as follows:

"Voice of Russia is radio with history, traditions and its own style. Russian foreign broadcasting per se began with your first signal and you have been "talking" with a huge audience ever since. Your radio programmes are heard almost around the world having found loyal listeners everywhere.

The powerful information resource of radio broadcasting in foreign languages enables us to fully and objectively describe the life of our country as well as international events. It is very important that along with the latest news in Voice of Russia programmes, there are invariably competent analyses and authoritative opinions on the most acute and pressing problems.

I am confident that your broadcasting will continue to develop dynamically, keep pace with the latest technology, expand its range and of course look for creative solutions and approaches in facilitating the promotion of Russian language and culture, as well as in increasing interest in Russia.
