Prime Minister Vladimir Putin congratulated residents of the Moscow Region on the 80th anniversary of the region
The message reads, in part:
"You can be rightfully proud of the area where you live, its unique historical heritage, unique cultural monuments, and great achievements of its people. Over the past decades your region, which has a rich powerful productive and intellectual potential, has made a considerable contribution to Russia's economy, its scientific and technological progress, and education. Large world-renowned research centres, respected universities and business schools have earned the region the fame of one of the recognised innovative centres of Russia. A whole galaxy of talented creative professionals and top athletes call the Moscow Region their second home.
"Today, the region is facing important and many-faceted tasks, the main among which is tackling major challenges in the social sphere, the development of transport infrastructure, and careful conservation of the environment."
