Prime Minister Vladimir Putin sent a message of greetings to delegates and guests of the Fifth International Conference Language, Culture and Society

The message reads, in part:

"Your forum comprises authoritative philologists, linguists and experts working in the sphere of social sciences and researchers of Russian. Russian language studies have determined the main aspects of your academic and educational work.

"Here you are going to discuss vital issues of language culture's development, Russian language studies, as well as the Russian language's role and place in the modern world.

"This important and fundamental discussion opens up broad opportunities for exchange of experience, expanded dialogue between cultures and cooperation. Naturally, the discussion expands the sphere of the Russian language as a means of international and inter-ethnic communication and promotes greater mutual understanding between people."
