Prime Minister Vladimir Putin sent a message to coal industry workers and veterans congratulating them on Miner’s Day
The message said:
"Your difficult work enjoys well-deserved respect in society. The work of miners is often fraught with high risks. Each time the miners descend into the coal-face, their willpower and character are tested thoroughly. Only well-trained, truly strong and brave people can perform such responsible work underground.
"The coal industry now has an impressive potential for development, reliably satisfies domestic market demand for coal products and strengthens its export positions. Even in conditions of global crisis, the industry continues to tackle modernisation objectives and those regarding the creation of new coal production and processing facilities, the commissioning of high-tech coal-chemical, energy-saving and coal-metallurgical complexes.
"I am confident that Russian miners will expand the best traditions of their predecessors and will continue to make a worthy contribution to ensuring national energy security and strengthening the Russian economy."
