Vladimir Putin sent a message of congratulations to Moulaye Ould Mohamed Laghdaf on the occasion of his appointment as Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania

The telegram reads in part:

"I am confident that friendly Russian-Mauritanian relations will continue to develop in the interests of the peoples of our nations, as well as in the interests of peace and stability on the African continent."
