Prime Minister Vladimir Putin sent a message of congratulations to employees and veterans of Russia’s railway transport system on their professional holiday, Railway Worker's Day

The message read, in part:

"The consistent service of Russian Railways and its infrastructure upgrades are truly considered key factors of the Russian economy's efficient expansion and provide an important social contribution.

"It is remarkable that even amid the current social and financial breakdown Russian Railways employees continue to pay considerable attention to improving the quality of passenger and freight transportation and the construction of new railway mainlines, and contribute to large-scale international projects.

"I am positive that you will continue to demonstrate your high professionalism in keeping and following the wonderful traditions inherited from many generations of your predecessors, and continue to contribute to solving issues of the national economy."
