Prime Minister Vladimir Putin sent a message of congratulations to workers in the mining and metallurgical sector on the occasion of the National Day of Metallurgy

The message reads, in part:

"The mining and smelting industry has always held great importance for our national economy; it has significantly defined the level and nature of our country's economic development. The professional achievements and the tradition of excellence that has been developed by those who work in mining and metallurgical enterprises are worthy of profound respect.

In today's difficult conditions we are faced with serious challenges. It is clear that the sector needs modernising. At the same time, in addition to technological restructuring and striving to increase efficiency, it is essential to safeguard people's social protection and support for those who have retired. And of course, we must attract the future generation of talented and dynamic workers."
