Prime Minister Vladimir Putin sent a message of condolence to the family of the deceased director Boris Pokrovsky, People’s Artist of the Soviet Union, artistic director and chief director of the Moscow Chamber Music Theater
The telegram reads, in part:
"Boris Pokrovsky was part of a constellation of renowned maestros whose names are rightfully considered the pride of Russian national culture. The work of this great stage director marked an entire era in the musical arts, and earned the highest public recognition.
"The cherished memories of Boris Pokrovsky will be forever in the hearts of his family, colleagues and students, and everyone who had a chance to know this bright, gifted and generous personality."
