Prime Minister Vladimir Putin sent a congratulatory message to the organisers, participants and guests of the 18th International Banking Congress
The message reads, in part:
"Over the past years your forum has gained considerable authority in the professional community, becoming one of the principal venues for constructive dialogue between Russian and international business circles and for discussion of current problems faced by the Russian financial credit system. Amid global financial difficulties, the theme of today's meeting - "The Growth and Stability of the Banking System: a Search for the Optimum" - appears most appropriate and calls for a meaningful debate and qualitative analysis.
"I am sure that the discussions to be held in the course of the congress will be constructive and help generate new views and innovative approaches to ensure the effective development of banking in Russia and to reinforce its world position."
