Prime Minister Vladimir Putin sent a telegram of greetings to the staff and retired workers of the Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring

The telegram reads, in part:

"You can take rightful pride in the history of your Service and the many generations of professionals who have greatly contributed to the development of its professional traditions and respected research schools in the field of meteorology, hydrology, oceanography, geophysics and climate studies.

"I am happy to say that an organic combination of theory and practice, of fundamental approaches and innovations, and of respect for Russian specifics and global experience underlie the work of Rosgidromet, and that itsstaff are broadly educated and highly competent people.

"I am convinced that you will continue to successfully do your work to the benefit of Russia and in the best interests of its people."
