Prime Minister Vladimir Putin sent a letter of congratulations to Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill on his Name Day.

The message reads, in part:

"You have greatly contributed for many years to the restoration of the Russian Orthodox Church, enhancing its influence in the world and promoting a spiritual revival of society, which has earned you due respect.

"Today, as the Head of the Russian Orthodox Church, you continue your efforts to unite Russian society and improve interethnic and interfaith dialogue, as well as to resolve socially significant issues. Your pleas for peace, harmonisation of public life and the improvement of mutual understanding have always received much response."
