Prime Minister Vladimir Putin congratulated Lev Dodin, artistic director of the Maly Drama Theatre - the Theatre of Europe, on his 65th birthday.

The telegram reads, in part:

"You have devoted your life to preserving and developing the glorious traditions of the Russian school of drama. You are considered by right to be a top-notch professional, a director with an inimitable and clearly expressed artistic vision and an excellent sense of style.

"I am certain that you will bring a great deal more pleasure to your numerous fans with your new performances."
