Prime Minister Vladimir Putin sent a message of congratulations to Gordon Bajnai on his election as Prime Minister of the Republic of Hungary

The message reads, in part:
"In recent years, our countries have managed to move to a new level of constructive and mutually beneficial relations, while making considerable progress in all fundamental directions of cooperation. I believe that the preservation and bolstering of these positive trends fully corresponds with our nations' interests, and makes a weighty contribution to ensuring stability in Central and Eastern Europe."
