Prime Minister Vladimir Putin sent a letter of greetings to participants in the finals of the Fourth Russian Rural Winter Games, held in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area on March 2-3, 2009

The letter said, in part:

"The Games increase the number of healthy lifestyle proponents every year, thereby promoting physical fitness and sport in the country. The Games' success is also clear proof of positive changes in the life and development of Russia's rural areas, and of a revival of their best traditions.

"I am convinced that the Games will see the appearance of new sport stars on the country's skies and become a celebration of genuine professionalism and friendship, adding a new page to the bright history of Russian sport.

"I wish the Games' participants a good start and record achievements, and the guests a festive mood and unforgettable meetings."
