Vladimir Putin signed Executive Order No. 138r of February 9, 2009, on the establishment of embassies of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Abkhazia and the Republic of South Ossetia in 2009

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin signed Executive Order No. 138r of February 9, 2009, on the establishment of embassies of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Abkhazia and the Republic of South Ossetia in 2009.

The unabridged text of the document follows:

1. To accept the proposal of the Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation coordinated with the relevant federal bodies of executive authority on the establishment of embassies of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Abkhazia and the Republic of South Ossetia in 2009.

2. The Foreign Ministry shall determine the number of employees of the embassies of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Abkhazia and the Republic of South Ossetia within the authorised numerical strength of personnel of the Foreign Ministry's overseas offices and approve their staff listings.

3. Expenditures on the establishment and maintenance of the embassies of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Abkhazia and the Republic of South Ossetia shall be funded, starting in 2009, by monies earmarked by the federal budget for the relevant year in the subsection "International Relations and International Cooperation" of the "General" section, which classifies budget expenditures on the support and activity maintenance of overseas Foreign Ministry personnel.
