Vladimir Putin signed Executive Order No. 137r of February 9, 2009, on Russia joining the Patent Law Treaty adopted by the Diplomatic Conference in Geneva on June 1, 2000

In compliance with the Federal Law On the International Treaties of the Russian Federation, Article 21, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin signed Executive Order No. 137r of February 9, 2009, on Russia joining the Patent Law Treaty adopted by the Diplomatic Conference in Geneva on June 1, 2000.

The unabridged text of the document is as follows:

1. To accept the proposal of the Education and Science Ministry coordinated with the Foreign, Finance, and Economic Development Ministries of Russia joining the Patent Law Treaty adopted by the Diplomatic Conference in Geneva on June 1, 2000, with the following proviso:

In compliance with the Patent Law Treaty, Article 23, Russia states that the premises of Article 6 (1) of said Treaty shall not be applied to any demand concerning the unity of invention applicable to an international application in compliance with the Patent Cooperation Treaty.

2. The Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation shall notify the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organisation of Russia joining the Patent Law Treaty with the proviso stated in Item 1 of the present Executive Order.
