Prime Minister Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences to the families of those killed in the terrorist attacks in Mumbai

"All of us were shocked by barbaric crimes perpetrated in Mumbai. These crimes once again remind us of the need to resolutely and uncompromisingly repel all terrorist attacks.

"In this involved situation, the actions of Indian special services and police units were absolutely justified and legitimate.

"It is important that the international community step up coordinated efforts to fight extremism and terrorism."
