Vladimir Putin sends message of greetings to participants, organisers and guests of international conference “Stolypin Readings. Ways of Modernising Russia: From Stolypin to Modernity”

The message reads, in part:

"This year marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Pyotr Stolypin. A string of official events and anniversary publications have been organized to commemorate this date. All this is a tribute to the memory of our great compatriot, his work and achievements and for his priceless contribution to resolving key national challenges.

Taking part in your influential forum entitled "Ways of Modernising Russia: From Stolypin to Modernity" are some of Russia's most outstanding intellectuals, prominent scholars, church officials, public figures and foreign guests. They will be discussing a wide range of issues linked with the preservation and promotion of Stolypin's unique political and artistic heritage. The experience of the reforms developed by him remains relevant to this day. The experience is in great demand both in Russia and in other countries on such crucial issues as strengthening the state, economic development and improving social life."
