Prime Minister Vladimir Putin congratulates Russia’s Jewish community on Passover holiday

The message reads, in part:

"This is one of the most festive and joyous holidays, greatly revered by Jews all over the world. It commemorates the Exodus, the seminal event in the history of the Jewish people, which freed them from centuries-long slavery. During the festival, the Jewish people turn to the moral and spiritual values of their immensely rich cultural heritage, which continues to have an enduring universal significance.

"The traditions of Judaism serve to strengthen trust between the people, as well as the building of Russia's future.

"The country's Jewish organisations do a tremendous amount for our society's successful development and for securing an atmosphere of tolerance and mutual respect between different faiths and ethnicities."
