Prime Minister Vladimir Putin congratulates the staff of the Rudomino All-Russia State Library for Foreign Literature on the 90th anniversary of its opening

The message reads, in part:

"Throughout its history the famous "Foreigner" has been one of the largest libraries in the country and has enjoyed great popularity among its readers. It was created and has evolved not only as a library housing an extensive collection of books, but also as a cultural and language centre. The concepts of education and raising awareness have always been an integral part of its work, and this has helped to deepen the dialogue and understanding between nations.

This noble mission is still needed today. It is very important that with your unique collections of foreign literature, you make use of the latest library technology to make a significant contribution to the dissemination of humanitarian knowledge and to participate in farsighted international projects."
