Vladimir Putin telephones writer and public figure Valentin Rasputin to congratulate him on his 75th birthday

The Prime Minister also sent Valentin Rasputin a congratulatory message, which reads, in part:

"You are a unique writer and a recognised master of contemporary Russian literature. All your works are infused with your sincere and deep love of the people, the country and its history and traditions. These books have become part of the national literary heritage and fully reflect your stance as a human being and a citizen, and are highly valued by your readers in Russia and beyond."
