Prime Minister Vladimir Putin congratulates workers at the Tula Arms Plant on the 300th anniversary of its foundation
The message reads, in part:
"The history of this celebrated plant, and the enormous contribution it has made to strengthening the country's defence capabilities, are a source of special pride not only for the plant's workers, but for all of Russia. Established by a decree of Peter the Great, the Tula Arms Plant laid the foundations for the large-scale industrial production of Russian firearms. The legendary traditions of Russian weapons makers, which have stood the test of time, have been formed and reinforced at this plant. Today, the plant's output is rightly considered a benchmark of quality. The plant has trained many well-known designers, engineers, industrial engineers and workers of the most diverse specialisations.
I am sure that by remaining one of the flagships of the Russian defence industry and leaning on the rich experience of the many generations of your predecessors, you will continue to successfully resolve major tasks for the benefit of Russia and in the interests of its national security."
