Prime Minister Vladimir Putin sends greetings to the heads of Russia’s Buddhist organisations on the occasion of the coming lunar New Year

The message reads, in part:

"I'm pleased to note that today Buddhist organisations in Russia have broad opportunities for reviving centuries-old traditions. New datsans – religious educational institutions – are being built. Representatives of the Buddhist community are members of the country's prestigious public institutions. They are doing important work to develop interethnic dialogue and cooperation with government bodies and making a big contribution to friendship and mutual understanding among people.

"The New Year is the White Moon holiday, a time of revival and the acquisition of bright hopes. I wish you, your parishioners, families and friends good health, happiness and prosperity."
