Prime Minister Vladimir Putin sends a message of greetings to delegates and guests of the 7th Conference of the Miners’ and Metallurgical Workers’ Union of Russia
The message reads, in part:
"Over the years, your trade union has passed through important stages of development and has grown into a large and influential organisation. Your union is the state's reliable partner in resolving vital problems in the development of the mining and metallurgical industries and in the protection of the rights and interests of current and former workers of the complex. In particular, I would like to emphasise our close cooperation during the global economic crisis. Our dialogue and common approaches have helped maintain jobs and stability within key sectors if the national economy.
I expect to continue our productive cooperation to ensure the retooling and modernisation of the mining and metallurgical complex, growth in competitiveness and efficiency, and the implementation of the latest managerial approaches. And certainly, regarding issues of social security, increasing the level and the quality of people's lives, and promoting occupational safety."
