Prime Minister Vladimir Putin congratulates Moscow’s Romen Music and Drama Theatre on its 80th anniversary

The message reads, in part:

"The Romen Theatre has always been famed for its brilliant, gifted company, powerful stage direction and beautiful, resplendent repertoire. A spirit of free creativity and of profound respect for and confidence in your audience always reigned supreme at the theatre. The stage remembers the names of the many outstanding and legendary actors, musicians and artists whose educational activities and dedication have made an invaluable contribution to the preservation of the indigenous culture and folk traditions of the Roma people. Let me address words of special appreciation to Mr Nikolai Slichenko, the long-standing head of your company, whose career and life are a worthy example of dedicated service to the high ideals of art.

I am confident that you will continue to delight the public with new and interesting works and famous first-nights, and to lavish them with the gifts of your talent and the warmth of your hearts."
