Prime Minister Vladimir Putin congratulates President of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation Vladislav Tretyak and all athletes, coaches, former players, and numerous fans on the 65th anniversary of Russian ice hockey

The message of congratulations reads, in part:

"Since the very first match, Russia's outstanding ice hockey teams have been adding to the history of the nation's ice hockey achievements. We are proud of the triumphant pages in the history of Russian ice hockey, and we remember the legendary names of its masters and mentors. Russian ice hockey has won widespread international recognition, and its players have been included among the world's sports elite for years.

"Russian ice hockey players demonstrate excellent training, and dedication to the pursuit that they love, which is reflected in their high results. Evidence of this is present in Russia's victories in major competitions, and the growing popularity of the Kontinental Hockey League.

"I am confident that new generations of Russian ice fighters will carry on the best traditions of Russian ice hockey."
