Prime Minister Vladimir Putin congratulates Lenenergo Power Co. current and former workers on the 125th anniversary of St Petersburg’s and the Leningrad Region’s power grid
The greetings message reads, in part:
"The history of Russia's oldest power company – the origins of which can be traced back to the 1886 Electric Lighting Society – holds a special place in the development and strengthening of Russia's power complex. You have every reason to be proud of your labour and the heroic accomplishments of generations of your predecessors. Lenenergo managed the first electric lighting network on Nevsky Prospekt, Utkina Zavod, the first heat power station, and Volkhovskaya hydropower plant which was the first and the strongest power-generating facility of its day. And, of course, the Leningrad power workers' selfless feats of valour during the Great Patriotic War merit the most profound recognition.
I am confident that you will continue to successfully tackle the tasks assigned to you by upholding your remarkable professional traditions, and continue to make a significant contribution to reliable and high-quality electric supplies in the region."
