Its noble mission to support young talents and its rich, extravagant programme invariably attract the attention of renowned maestros, up-and-coming performers and, of course, fans of high art.

"I am convinced that this vocal contest will become a significant event in the world's cultural life, and help new stars find their way on to the global music stage.
