Prime Minister Vladimir Putin sends his greetings to students competing in the Mikhailovsky Theatre Grand Prix Russian ballet contest

The message reads, in part:

"I am happy to see your creative initiative receive wide support among ballet professionals and ballet lovers alike. We pride ourselves – and deservedly so – on the national school of ballet's outstanding achievements and on all the brilliant dancers who have contributed to the world's artistic heritage. It is vital that our legendary traditions be maintained, and, in this case, that the Russian ballet is further glorified and enriched.

"As the Mikhailovsky Theatre Grand Prix is one of Russia's outstanding and long-awaited events, I believe it will rank among our most prestigious contests and festivals. It will be a celebration for lovers of exquisite taste."
